Lumin App Reviews

Terrific - improvements necessary

Really a kind of RAW feeling. Great!! To be improved: - orientation of photo fixed - no correction of light or area of sharpness possible Otherwise one of my favorite apps (in combination with other photo apps like Leonardo or Pro HDR X).

Another tool for my iPhone "Swiss Army Knife"

Im packing for a trip tonight and so many things on my "one bag packing list" are checked off by just carrying my iPhone. Ill be on vacation and volunteering where I need to read tiny print. Lumin adds a tool to my phone. It still works great even in ios9 & w my 6s plus. Read and save tiny print on game cards or circuit boards. Great app elegant & flexible. Back to packing!

Wonderful App

This has been great for me. Especially love taking portraits of my children. I wish the app had anti-shake, but when you snap the shot, it does produce a remarkably sharp image. Best zoom feature Ive seen in all the camera apps Ive tried.

Huge update, and here

Massive update to Lumin. Really makes it much more useful. Super stable - at least for me. Also, regarding all the reviews that say "stuck on Help screen", all you have to do is tap on the live photo area below the help overlay and youre in. Couldnt be simpler. Nothing wrong with the update, and between the "picture in picture" and history palette additions (not to mention the new share options) its an awesome refinement of an already great tool. Try it again guys! (and maybe update your reviews?)

Last Update was a magic update

Great App. Last update froze app on help screen first few times it opened but after shutting phone off and back on it works great.

I love the Picture-in-Picture! (& tap to dismiss help screen)

For those of you with the Help screen problem, just tap anywhere off of the edge of the help screen, and it will go away. Easy! They should probably fix this as its not intuitive. I bought Lumin to look at menus in restaurants. Im now finding myself pulling it out and using it more than the camera - Im using the camera just for memorable photos and I use Lumin for everything else: pictures of products when comparison shopping, labels when I need a serial number, when I had a sliver in my finger, and when I wanted to keep copies of receipts. I was emailing these things before, but now that Lumin stores the pictures, Im using that-or I may turn on Dropbox to save them in two places. My only complaints are that I cant get to Lumin from the lock screen, and I wish the quality was better on the iPad. Right now the iPhone camera is much superior.

Lumin review

Good idea purely executed. I found the picture quality terrible. Its way easier to just use the native camera and zoom in on that picture.

Perfect

Its exactly what it says and thats what I needed to read the tiny print on a power adapter UL sticker.

Very useful

I totally needed something like this - great app

I can see!

Too dark? Too tiny? Forgot your reading glasses? Too hard to get to? As long as your hand can get the iPhone to it, you can get a bigger, brighter image to read!!!

When squinting doesnt cut it

Lumin makes having aging eyes easier to work with. No more squinting.

Very smooth, few ideas

No enhanced contrast or inverse video, which some users might Iike. Really like the overview box, very clever! Image gets clearer when u freeze the image which is nice Id like to tap to set focus point. Better would be to give focus priority to part of image Im viewing, vs now it might focus on presenter, vs whiteboard which Im not even looking at. This means whiteboard text is out of focus even though thats what Im trying to read because presenters head is in I zoomed overall frame and I think that confuses the cameras autofocus. The AF "region of interest" should be bounded by the zoomed in portion of the screen - I think this would fix it Icons are nice, but might add option for bolder buttons for low vision users.

Great for taking documentation on the road

I love this app and use it every week. Ive been finding many uses at work. For example, I can take a picture of a rack of network gear at a remote site and then refer to it as I talk to someone that is at the site. I also take pictures of documentation (e.g. phone list, network diagram) and can read the small print because the Lumin zoom feature is so much better than other picture apps. I just discovered the Dropbox integration and find that very helpful. One feature I would like is the ability to import images into Lumin. Sometimes the images I take are a bit blurry (shaky hands) or poorly lit and I would be able to get better quality if I could take a screenshot on the Mac and then move it to the Dropbox folder. Thanks for a great app.

Waste of your money

This app.is not user friendly, one could probably have a seizure before it decides to focus.better off to just get a good olmagnifier!

Froze My Phone!

This used to work very well. Now, after the latest update, I tried to use it, and it froze my phone entirely. The app froze mid-focus, and then I couldnt get the app to close. No response to pressing home or power or volume or anything at all. I couldnt get out of the app, and I couldnt get to anything else on the phone. I had a preset alarm, which went off, and I could not get to it to turn I off. Finally had to do a hard reset - the only thing that worked to get access to my phone again. Deleted.

One of my Must Have apps!

I use this app almost everyday. My job often requires me to read very small print. Things like serial numbers, etc on equipment. This app makes that so easy for me. I was always having to carry around a magnifying glass but now, I have a lighted on right on my phone. Great app and thank you for making it!!

Beware! Abandoned app!

Good app, worthwhile features, but never updated for larger screen size. Starting to get buggy and crashes under new versions of iOS.

Incredibly useful!

Even with my 2.0 strength reading glasses, the small print on many documents and devices is unreadable. But this amazing app magnifies the details and does so simply and elegantly.

Used to be good

Update: doesnt work in iOS 8. Crashes every time In the old version, focusing and saving was never a problem. When they did the major overhaul a year or so ago, the app has never been the same. The biggest issue is that it has CEASED saving to my camera roll. I have to email every photo Lumin takes to myself because it refuses to save it. It says it will save it and goes through the motions, but its nowhere to be found. At the moment focusing is iffy. It goes into this state where it will be ok, but then refuses to focus. I have to exit the app and start over. Whatever was done to do that major "overhaul" RUINED this app permanently. I have been waiting for them to fix these things, but no one has corrected these issues even though others have complained about them. Also, having to hit that teeny lock symbol to take a photo is almost impossible to do.

Abandoned

This was a great app, a great idea, and I used it often. Unfortunately it appears the developer has abandoned it. It was never optimized for the iPhone 5 and larger screens. And as of iOS 8 it crashes on launch.
