Update 2-2020 I don’t what happened but it’s working again!!! Yayyy! Update 06-2019 Abandoned app, what a shame App takes photos and saves them to the tray in a bizarre order. That’s it. It’s all but dead, what a pity, abandoned app, no updates for years. Too bad. I used to use this all the time. Now I can’t save to my camera roll. 😭 can you please fix this? Update 10-2018 App saves photo to the the tray in an odd order. Definitely not in the order take. Very, very messed up. No longer uploads photos to Dropbox. New since iOS 12. PLEASE FIX THIS!

This works great. I can zoom enough to be able to apply eye makeup in somewhat less of my old crazy woman manner. None of the teens are giggling about my new not-Halloween look. 👵🏼

No longer works - save yourself the effort

This was a great app, a great idea, and I still use it often despite buggy behavior (saved images appear incorrectly). Hopefully it will rise from its ashes or I can find a replacement that is as helpful to me as this app has been.

I love Lumin and use it more than many other apps on my iPhone 7+. It is an elegant “magnifying glass” utility that does the job extremely well. Whenever I share an image I’ve captured, it invariably draws raves and I get asked how I took such an amazing close up. Please keep this wonderful utility updated and available. I dread the day when I upgrade my phone or OS and Lumin stops working. In fact I’m writing this review after thinking about how to support the developers and encouraging them to keep this app updated. Thank you again for creating such a useful application! Update: Lumin now shows “Failed with error - 11852 Cannot use Back Camera”. I haven’t used Lumin in a few months so am very sad that it has stopped working in iOS 12.3 on my iPhone 7+.

NO LONGER WORKS Does not work on iOS 12 or iPhone Xr. All that displays is a black screen. If you read the 1 star ratings, you can see many people have this complaint. Have used this program for years and it was on my favorite apps list. Does not look like it has been updated since 2014. The developer has had plenty of time to update this app, but has not done so. My conclusion is that it is an abandoned app.

It doesn’t work at all with my XS Max... screen is just black and camera doesn’t come on. Would like my .99 back!

I bought and downloaded. I checked setting and from or rear faced camera. I have iPhone 10xr. No picture just dark pic with or without light. Support a bit difficult to find. Have 60 pest control techs that can really use if I can get to work as stated. Day 2 no email or support?

I used to use this app all the time, but they have let it go. This app should be removed from the App Store. Last update was iOS 8

App refuses hblack. Photo converter not working? My rating

I have had no developer contact and cannot find support for this app anywhere. It has been a good out but now I am really ticked I would give it a zero if possible. I have been using Lumin for years and have been very pleased and satisfied with the product. I have two iPhones one for work where I work with the blind in the other personal. I just upgraded my new phone and the camera will not work.I have been all over the website looking for support or someplace to contact support and cannot find any such thing. I have changed my rating from 5 to 1 because it is no longer functional.

I have loved this app since I first put it on my 4S several years ago. It works very well on my 6+ and my iPad Pro third generation. But for some reason I cannot make it work on the 8+. I can view previously saved images, but I cannot create new images as it always shows the screen to be black. I hope something can be done to correct this problem.PLEASE!!! I use Lumin often multiple times a day and I am really really missing it.

Only shows black screen and crashes when I touch the choose camera icon. Can’t use it and can’t find help. Waste of .99 cents.

This app does this one thing exactly right. Wow. Please, though, update to automatically save to iCloud Drive, as it did with Dropbox. Thanks.

I love this app. It's great as a magnifier and for taking pics of low or no light close up situations. Think picture of product info on back of washing machine without pulling it away from the wall. This is a staple app for both home and work use. I have employees get this app for work too. Thanks for the constant support!

No longer works with iOS 9 and iPhone SE. Error message that it cannot access back camera. Trying to switch cameras causes instant crash.

I'm packing for a trip tonight and so many things on my "one bag packing list" are checked off by just carrying my iPhone. I'll be on vacation and volunteering where I need to read tiny print. Lumin adds a tool to my phone. It still works great even in ios9 & w my 6s plus. Read and save tiny print on game cards or circuit boards. Great app elegant & flexible. Back to packing!

I sometimes forget my glasses in my backpack. I don't use Lumin often but love it when I need it. I recently opened the app and got an error saying it cannot use back camera. I tried switching camera and the app closes. I even uninstalled and reinstalled. I emailed App Support and got a quick response. For some reason (probably an iOS update), the permission to use camera was switched off. 👍🏽 Thank you App Support.

This app has been on my front page for years.

If you like to see things in great details (the knit pattern of your fine linen/sheets; each hair on you bird's feather; the tiny prints of anything, etc.), get this app. This is a fun and useful app! (Although this app is intuitive and easy to use, I do wish someone could tell me how to delete the pictures from the app... And by the way, Lumin's Setting is located in iPhone's Setting. Right on the bottom front page, in the list of apps.)

The app failed with error 11852. Cannot use back camera. What good is it? I have the latest version.

There are other apps to do this, but Lumin is the best. I can read the tiniest writing with this.

I think it's great functionally in that you can save your zooms. I think it would work better if there was a zoom slider at the bottom so you don't have to pinch what you're looking at with two fingers. I prefer to use the app with one hand (like a magnifying glass!) and the double-tap isn't precise enough.

This really is awesome for those of use with older eyes that need readers. I'm excited about this one! Seriously, try it. It was a fast download. If you don't like it, it will be a fast delete. But you'll like it!

It's useful for live use, e.g. reading small print, but only seems to magnify 2x. The "lock", then magnify, feature is simply just taking a picture, which you can already do. Oh, and the pictures do not change orientation, so get it right the first time. I got this free, so I'm lucky. Please don't pay for it. I think you will be disappointed.

I was a bit skeptical initially, however, from what I've seen so far it's pretty good.

In trying to avoid getting readers, I can do it much longer now. Never will have to look for readers because I always have my phone!

This app is kind of pointless. The built in camera can zoom in the same. Seems to me a waste of space.

Reviews I see so far seem to be the developer and friends and one troll. I've nothing to do w. the developer and I'm not a troll. Honest review: the UI is apple-like: intuitive, simple, easy to master in about 2 minutes. It allows MAGNIFICATION substantially higher than camera view allows but of course the RESOLUTION is fixed by the hardware. So at some level of zoom the image isn't useful. But it's the zoom BEYOND what you can do in camera view up to hardware resolution limitations that provides a meaningful new use-case so that is clever, and truly well executed. Nice extra touches include freeze image, take picture, share picture, turn on flash, and use of front facing camera too. Again VERY thoughtfully put together, and it's not trying to do 50 things. It basically does 1 thing and it does it very well. At just over 4 megabytes its a tiny tiny app so no worries using up memory. I like it a lot. Kudos to the developer very nice job indeed.

downloaded this today. a great app! I use my phone to look at stuff hard to see - where my camera can go, but I can't, too small to read, wiring on computer boards, etc. this makes doing that easy, and quick access to the information. perfect for me.. thanks!!

Menus in dark restaurants are difficult and I don't always bring my purse which has my reading glasses. I always bring my phone. No more worries!! Also wonderful for reading small labels on items in the stores. Thank you for this!!

Great app. I have wanted something like this for a long time. I've often shown up at the restaurant unable to read even with my glasses because the light was so low,the print was too small. this is a great app easy to use

Often I get a new app & flounder trying to get it working. This is very easy to work & if you need more answers it has something to tap on to. What more can you ask for?

I hate this app it's worthless you can just use your camera and zoom in and it will be the same thing it takes up space so DO NOT download it it's bad and has a bad resolution

I bought this a couple days ago "just in case." Within 24 hours, it paid for itself. I downloaded instructions off the internet on how to program a remote. After printing it, it was reduced to a size so small, I couldn't read the codes for the devices which I would need to use to program the remote. So I fired up Lumin and zoomed in to the codes. I turned the light on and there they were. Easy to read. I then quickly finished the programming task. Very easy to use and effective app.

I never review apps, but this app is too cool. How many times have I gone to the store without my reading glasses. Now I can see the prices and read the box. This will be one of my most used apps. Thanks I love it.

wonderful application

Thanks for the update. It's now working on IOS 8. I am constantly using this in dark restaurants as I never have my reading glasses with me, but I always have my phone.

What a wonderful app. It comes in so handy when I'm trying to read and capture the small print like serial numbers and network keys from hard to read equipment.

Very handy app. It works like a charm. You can even take a photo of your fingerprint. Like having a macro-lens on your iphone. You can even turn on the flash as like a flashlight to eliminate your subject.

I have been waiting for the OS8 update. I use this app more and more as time destroys my vision. Fantastic app!
